Fabulous feature in Devon Life magazine

We were very lucky to have Anna Turns from Devon Life magazine come and visit us last month...and her fabulous feature about Pony Picnics can be found on pages 168-169 of the September issue. Many people come to Devon and Exmoor to see the ponies out on the moorland, but obviously visitors are not able to get really close to the ponies. Pony Picnics provides the perfect experience for those who would like to get up close and personal with the ponies...whether they've had any experiences with equines before or not...and there's no worrying about falling off! All of our ponies were once wild and scared of people...and now they help people who sometimes feel scared of horses and ponies.

Anna also writes about our special courses where people can learn about equine communication, behaviour and body language, as well as horse handling and equine problem solving. More information about our courses can be found at www.understandinghorses.co.uk

Success for "Pony Picnics" pony Frodo

On Sunday, Frodo went to the rescue horse and dog show, held in aid of "The Brooke" charity, at National Trust property Knightshayes Court in Tiverton. He was accompanied by young handler Millie, and last week we did some training sessions to get them both ready for the event. On the day, they did brilliantly and won two, first place rosettes. They won first in the child handler class, and followed that with first place in the Horse Agility. Well done Frodo and Millie!

We also had a stand at the show to promote Pony Picnics. We really enjoyed the day and had lots of interest from people. Pony Picnics is such an appealing idea to people of all ages!

Express and Echo link

In case you missed it...here is the link to our feature that was in the Express and Echo today. The article is written by Richard Birch:

Taking a walk on wild side with Bobby the rescue pony
"ALL it takes is a confident stride and Bobby will shadow your every move. True, his head can be turned by a particularly attractive patch of cow parsley, but as we stroll through the Devon countryside it is difficult to imagine that this conker-brown pony was once wild. And not just wild; petrified of people due to a trauma he had experienced in his youth. It has taken several years of training and therapy to bring Bobby, now ten, out of his shell and he is now part of the team for a fledgling business that provides a gentle introduction to all things equine... http://www.thisisexeter.co.uk/news/Taking-walk-wild-rescue-pony/article-2516747-detail/article.html

Thursday 12th August press coverage

Look out for our special Pony Picnics feature today, on page 12 of the Exeter "Express and Echo" newspaper! The deputy editor came to experience one of our Cream Tea Walks with his family on Saturday and has written a fabulous review of their walk with Bobby the pony.

Also...there are special vouchers in this week's North Devon Journal, published today. Readers can take advantage of £5 off a Cream Tea Walk with one of our ponies. Vouchers are valid for one week only, and places must be booked in advance . Contact Faye on 01884 251251 for more details...

Look out for Pony Picnics in the press!

Being the first place in the country to run "Pony Picnics" has created quite an exciting story for the media. Throughout July we've had a lot of interest in our "Pony Picnics" project from Westcountry journalists. We've had a news article in the North Devon Journal, and throughout August the paper is running vouchers for our walks and picnics.

A lovely journalist from Devon Life magazine came to visit us (myself and the ponies!) and we are very excited to have an article in the upcoming, September issue of Devon Life.
